Chapter II: Separation of Love

Chapter II: The Separation of Love

The night was indeed young, the people are all merry. The lights blend with the people as it dances along the dark corners of the Kingdom.  The moon shines beneath them; everyone wore smiles on their faces. Not everyone at the very least, since there are those who wish to live in the darkness, forever cursing themselves of the life they chose.  With eyes that are ready to pierce through the souls of the innocent. Having the will, to bring havoc to the hearts of millions. Who are they?

Lire was in the care of her friend Amy, who just returned from a very long mission. Four years have passed ever since they last met. Lire had an ease in heart as she hugged Amy. Her warmth made her feel comfortable, as if she had longed for this. The pain in her heart started to fade away as she gazed upon the divine figure carrying her. “Amy...” She thought to herself.  Her eyes regained its colors as the lights made it clear that she was on her way to a new life, a life without Elesis.

The girl smiled in hopes that her heart would recover for the third time.  Tears flowed from her eyes once more. “Lire, you okay back there?” Amy smiled at her as they walked slowly through the many people, who were gazing on them. “Aye, I’m fine.”  Both of them laughed.

But behind the dark corners of the Kingdom, scattered, are those evil hearts that desired nothing but malice. One of those was a lonesome Knight shrouding himself in the darkness of the night. His stare was focused on the two girls, whose smiles gave him more to anger about. Choosing to whether to commit another crime or not. He bears a coin on his hand, which was aimlessly flipped again and again. The coin landed on his hand revealing that it was heads. The man let out an evil smirk and began to laugh maniacally. “Lire…”

Meanwhile, Lire and Amy was nearing the inn which the Oracle once called home. She did live a rather normal life, though she was treated as a Diva. She was thankful enough that her comrades treated her normally. Amy’s thoughts were deep. It has been a long time since she set foot on Bermesiah again. Amy just continued on smiling whilst carrying Lire on her back. Her friend’s weight never bothered her since she was happy enough that it was that girl she was carrying. She kept on walking until they reached the inn. The girls looked heavenward at the worn down structure, a three-story building possibly constructed before the War of the Highlands. Amy turned to her friend. “Well, here we are Lire.”

But Lire made no response which made Amy worried. She gently withdrew Lire from her back and made her sit at the side of the inn. Amy went closer to Lire. “Lire..?” The girl heard a cute moaning sound coming from the archer. Amy sighed and smirked. “You lost your consciousness while during our trip.”  The sleeping archer kept on smiling for some reason with tears trailing from her cheeks. Amy blushed as she found this very cute. “It might be best that I don’t wake her. Her mind is at peace right now.” Amy’s arms went under Lire’s soft body and carried her. The girl made her way to the door. “Alice, can you open the door? I’m quite in a fix here.” A few minutes had passed and no answer came. “Eh..? This is her inn, right? I remember it clearly.” Amy thought for awhile. “Hmmm… It’s been four years already, maybe Alice sold the place.” The girl sighed in disappointment and turned around, ready to leave.

But before moving another step, the locks of the door behind her began to turn. Amy turned around, gazing her eyes on the old wooden door. “Alice..?” She asked. The sound of unlocking ceased and the door started to open.  A girl, that appears to be in her young adult years with long gold hair, greeted Amy. “Sorry, Amy… I fell asleep. I was really excited that you were coming back.” The girl smiled then noticed Lire on Amy’s arms. “Wait, isn’t that Lire, your carrying?”

Amy smiled back while her face was turning red. “Can you please help me…? She’s really getting heavy.”  Alice hurriedly went to aid Amy and helped her carry Lire. “She seems rather pale, what happened to her?” Amy turned her sights to the innkeeper. “That is something that I plan to find out. But, I’m sure that it was something very painful.” Amy’s eyes gave out a worried look as she slowly carried Lire upstairs. “Lire…” Alice assisted Amy as they went to the Oracle’s room.

Tears still flowed down the girl’s cheeks as she went about walking to Kerrie Harbor. The surrounding was dark. Only the moon gave light to her way. Elesis continued on walking, her guilt still chewing on her consciousness on what she has just done to Lire. The girl eyes were red with her fist clenched as if it was ready to kill someone. The night breeze gave her goose bumps. Her long hair swayed against the wind. “Lire…” Words came out of her mouth as she forced herself to look back. “What am I doing?” But her body insisted her to walk onwards.

“Lire…” She held her bag tighter, she wanted to go back. But before she could make another move a voice broke the silence. “Elesis…” A voice of a man echoed throughout the field. Elesis looked straight and blushed. “Ronan…” The figure was magnificent that it made Elesis draws more tears, a man with silky blue hair wearing a coat that matches Elesis’. “It didn’t go well, I assume.” Ronan asked. “Go well? It went horribly wrong, I know she can’t forgive me anymore...” Ronan approached Elesis and hugged her tightly. “I know Lire will forgive you, that girl was the wisest among us.” The man kissed Elesis’ forehead and smiled at her. “Now, let us go before the others find out that we have gone missing.” Elesis kept her silence and nodded. Ronan held her hand. “The ship will be departing soon. We best hurry.” But of them went there way. Elesis heart was still aching from her decision to leave Lire for Ronan. The girl stared at her new lover and did her best to smile.

The sound of a ship blowing it horns gave out the sign that it was almost ready to depart. The newfound couple made a run for it. Their steps trailing across the stone path that leads to the harbor. Shadows beaming across the woods until they reached the place that was once called Kerrie Beach. It was a beautiful sight to behold. They saw the ship and boarded it. Moments later, the ship finally set sail. Elesis made her final look at Bermesiah and gave her final farewell to the girl she loved. “Goodbye, Lire…” Ronan went behind her and gave her a hug. “I’m sure she’ll be alright. The gods favor her as Amy said.” Elesis gazed at Ronan as he approached her for a kiss. The boat disappeared into the darkness of the night.

Lire was finally sleeping soundly on Amy’s old bed. The Oracle gave herself a seat and watched over her. “Anything else you need, Amy?” Alice asked her tenant. “Ah, I almost forgot!” Amy panicked a bit. “What’s wrong?” Amy gave Alice a serious look. “I have to go meet the others, they have been expecting me.” Alice smiled at her. “Then I shall stay with Lire until your return.” Amy got up and opened her dusty closet. “I’ll be back in a short while. Sorry to trouble you.” The girl took her coat and ran outside as she wore her coat.

Amy was rushing outside heading for Jin’s house for the celebration of her return. “Oh, I hope… They aren’t angry at me for making them wait this long.” A man walked out from the shadows as Amy disappeared into the crowd. This man looked up into the window of the inn which had a light coming from it. “I finally found you…” The man smirked devilishly as he smoked his cigarette.

Alice sat on a chair and started to watch Lire. The girl was intrigued. “Lire, sure is very beautiful. But, I’m curious… what happened to you?”

A loud knock on the inn’s door was heard by Alice moments later. “Huh?” She immediately stood up and went downstairs. “Coming…” She gave out a response. She arrived at the front door. “Who is it?” No one answered. “Ehh…” She opened the door slowly and it saw no one outside. Alice gave out a pissed off look. “Damn kids and their pranks.” Alice closed the doors and locked it shut. She made her way back to Amy’s room. “Kids this da…” The girl was silenced when she returned to the room. The bed was empty and the windows where open. The wind blew inside the room. “Lire…?” The woman panicked at once. She saw footprints on the floor revealing that Lire was kidnapped. The girl was missing! “I have to inform Amy of this…” Alice ran downstairs and unlocked her door. “This is not good…” Once the doors were unlocked she stormed outside and started her search for Amy… Will she find her in time?

“Amy!!!!!!!!” Alice could only shout in hopes of finding Amy.

Chapter I: The Angel's Return

~Chapter I: The Angel’s return~

The sky was covered in darkness as the sun disappeared before the eyes of everyone. But one person failed to witness this event ever since she lost her consciousness.  The winds stopped dancing for her and left her on her own.  This person did not wish to move from her state, she has lost so much in such a short time. The soul of a once happy girl was desolated by her own lover. A heart has been emotionally scarred from the events which it could not bear. The gods pitied this young girl for she has suffered too much. Her ordeal is painful indeed…

Lire was still unconscious. The sun has already gone down but she didn’t move an inch from her position. Her body was weak and hungry, she was suffering greatly. The pain in her heart made her numb all over. Her mind was blank yet tears continued on flowing from her white soft cheeks, desperately calling for the one it weeps for. As though time had stopped for her, she could do nothing to ease her pain.

Only darkness was shown in her slumber…

Her clothes were getting dirty since it rained not too long ago. The wind of the night made her shiver.  She had nothing but that, ever since she started begging Elesis to come back to her.  Drool escaped from her mouth, it dripped down the grassy plains. She moaned in despair. Everything to her seemed to have lost its worth. She wanted to die on the spot. But her fate was not going to let it end there.

It was not far until a pink-haired girl who appears to be from a foreign land happens to pass by, happily walking in a proud manner. The girl smiled at herself, getting the feeling of relief and joy. The girl was still young in appearance, though her body was not in tuned with her age. She had long and pink hair that swayed behind her.  Her face was heavenly, no blemishes or whatsoever.

The girl smiled in excitement as she gazed upon the night sky. She continued walking back to the land she once called home. She sighed in relief. “I’m finally returned home. I wonder how everyone has turned out after the four years I was away.” She inhaled the clean air around her. “Nothing has changed, I assume.” The girl smiled.

Moments later, Lire finally awoke from her painful slumber, but she was still unable to move from her position. Though awake, she couldn’t help but grieve for her loss. She couldn’t think clearly, she assumed she was going to die there. She raised her head and took a glimpse of the starry night. The light of the stars shone over her. The girl’s tears ceased from flowing, her body can’t take it anymore. She started speaking in low tone, more like a whisper that no one but herself can hear.

“Elesis…” The girl faintly said. Her voice was hoarse from all the shouting she did earlier. “Elesis…” She said once more and has done so several more times. She held her skirt and gripped it tightly. “Elesis…” This time it was louder near to a scream. Her eyes were closed shut. The thought of her loss finally enraged her. She started to punch the ground. It was not as soft as it seems as it has rocky parts underneath it. She kept on punching away; her hands began to bleed vigorously. Her voice was increasing its loudness.”Damn you, Elesis… Damn it… Damn it!” She couldn’t cry anymore even if she wanted to. It was painful to hear such suffering.

The pink-haired girl was nearing her destination when she heard a quite familiar voice.  “What is this? I kind of recognized this voice.” The traveler ventured around the area to find out. Her curiosity led her near the path which leads to the open plain. It was dark already but the girl couldn’t help herself but to go closer and take a look at the source of the sound.  The voice was heart-breaking; she felt so much hatred from where it came from. She was on top a hill when had full view of a wonderful scenery.  “Now, where is that coming from?” The voice was getting clearer and clearer as she walked into the dark field. The girl could literally feel the pain of the voice. She went on closer. “There it is.” She managed to locate the source of the voice which had bothered her for some time now.

The girl went on closer. She could see clearly a dark figure in front of her. It was dark so she had to go closer until she had clear view of the figure. The voice she heard was from Lire. Still, cursing under the dark night. Her hands were bleeding but kept on punching in anger.  The girl was horrified by what she was, it was her friend. She didn’t know what to feel at that moment. Was she supposed to be happy or sad from that event? “Lire?!” The girl rushed to stop Lire from pitiful state. “Lire!” The girl grasped the shoulders of her friend tightly. “Lire, what are you doing here?” The girl stared that Lire’s eyes. It was hollow inside of it.

Lire finally reacted and gazed back at her companion. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She tried to speak as much as she could. “A… Amy?” Lire smiled at bit, relieved to have seen a friend that has long been gone from her sights. Amy hugged Lire after hearing her words. “What the hell happened here, Lire?” She asked Lire with such concern. “Lire…” The girl withdrew from her hold. Lire stared at Amy. Memories began to flow back into her head. She stared on harder, and then it hit her.

“Amy, is that really you?” The girl’s heart lifted up a bit upon realizing the presence of a friend that she hasn’t seen for such a long time. Amy smiled and caressed her friend’s face. “It’s been a long time, Lire. I’m home.” Amy assisted Lire to stand up as her body still felt weary. “Let us go to somewhere more comfortable, and then let me know what had happened here.” Lire nodded at the decision of her friend and started to walk. She was still in pain but for some reason she felt at ease when she was with Amy. She forgot what it was; she felt Amy’s warmth enveloping her body. Her pain eased a little. As they both walked towards the gates of Kanavan. “Be careful now.” Amy whispered to Lire. They walked past some foreigners who are leaving Kanavan. They stared at them in concern.

A person who appears to be hunter spoke. “Is that Amy?” A knight heard this and looked at Amy and Lire.  “Who is that girl with her..?” The questions kept on going until the girls arrived at their destination.  Amy gazed upon Lire’s bleeding hand “Hang on.”The Oracle held Lire’s hand tightly and prayed. Amy’s divine aura kept it from getting worse or infected.  Amy continued to smile at her friend while Lire kept on wearing a rather painful frown. She was still in pain, not physically but emotionally. She still couldn’t accept what had happened to her.

But Lire managed to notice Amy’s smile and smiled back at her. “Thank You, Amy.” That was all she could say. Amy patted Lire on her head with her free hand. “No need to thank me, Lire. I’m your friend. I came back as I promised you. I’m very happy that you were the first person that I met after 4 long years.” Those words felt so good when Lire heard it, she blushed heavily. It felt like that was what she wanted to hear for so long.  But she couldn’t remember much about that promise she made.  It was vague to her since her mind was still in a state of instability. “We’re here…” Amy finalized.

There they stood in front of the gates of the mighty Kingdom of Kanavan. Amy’s smile grew as she gazed upon the changed that had taken place. She was so happy that she was finally home. The tension in her heart was replaced with so much joy that she couldn’t help but draw tears from her eyes. “This place has changed so much since the last time I’ve been here.” Amy held Lire’s hand and faced her friend. “Now, let us go to my room. It has been a long time since I went there.” Amy went under Lire and carried her on the spot. “This might make our journey a lot faster.”

Lire smiled as she hugged her friend in comfort. She was indeed an angel by nature. Amy was known around the world as the No.1 Pop Diva, but she felt that Amy was still the same person that left her four years ago. Amy was her Angel… she couldn’t help herself from that thought. But will she be able to tell Amy what had happen during the time Amy was not there. Can she be able to walk on forward to start a new life? Or will she keep on holding her grief until she dies? This was what she was thinking.

The night was still young, the people were happy. But there as some people who chose to live in hatred. Just as the man standing in one corner, flipping his coin while in an official Knight’s uniform. His eyes were full of hatred, ready to devour ever pure being in its wake. He blended into the darkness of the corridors as he locked his sights at Lire…

Prologue~ Revised~

Prologue~

The wind blew brilliantly across the soft grass plain. The Kingdom of Kanavan has never been this beautiful every since the five great evils that they have faced desolated their lands. The sun was setting; everything was given a shade of orange. Trees were dancing with the wind. The place was peace… Or so it seems…

“Elesis..!” Hands and feet on the ground, a girl who desired nothing but happiness. Cries that can make a person pity anyone. The cry was painful yet the person it wants to reach was emotionally deaf. Though, she wasn’t hearing anything at all.

“I’m sorry, Lire” Colds words coming from a person who once have spoken about loyalty. How important it was to her. How she promised to be with this person forever. Her words broke through the heart of her young lover, like a knife that has pierced into her heart. “I don’t love you anymore. That’s all” She was well aware of what was about to happen. “Please understand, Lire.” The girl didn’t make eye contact; her guilt might make her lose her mind.

The blonde girl covered her ears tightly, scratched it until it bled. “No, this girl refuses to understand!” Her tears overflowed her eyes and rushed out like a river. The grass underneath her was rained by tears of despair. “Don’t leave me, Elesis… Please” Her face was getting dirty, but the Red-head tolerated more. She was unsure whether to go back or move forward.

Elesis faced the horizon, trying to hold her tears back as much as she can. She wasn’t this hard boned warrior like she once was. She wanted to have more connection with her comrades. But she didn’t expect that this would happen, not to her. She sighed. “I’m in-love with Ronan now; we’re leaving for Xenia and start a new life.”

Lire’s eyes widened in disbelief, she could not comprehend what words that has invaded her elven ears. She stared at Elesis and said nothing as if her mind finally went blank. Her heart was shattered into a million pieces by those words alone, she was so fragile. Her eyes were red from crying. Her clothes were dirty yet the wind embraces her in comfort. It was hard for her to accept the fact that Elesis has made her mind; her decision will not be changed.

The Red Knight faced Lire once more and gazed upon her aching face. Tears involuntarily escaped from her eyes as her guilt finally gave way. “Forget about me, Lire… I know what I have done… And I am beyond forgiveness.” She knelt down and their eyes met. “Do with me as you will, kill me… I know...”

A cracking sound was heard before the girl could finish her statement. The Knight’s nose began to bleed as she realized that she was slapped by Lire. The archer was gasping, trying to speak her mind. “Lire…”

“I know you had a reason, Elesis.” Lire covered her face with her hands. “But, I never thought that you could do this to me. Everything we’ve been through. All the promises we made together. Was that all for nothing?” The girls eyes were demanding answers, Elesis could only face the reality that it was all her fault. “I’m sorry, Lire…” Elesis stood up and began to walk away. “I’m sorry for what I have done, I don’t think we’ll be seeing each other anymore” Elesis wiped her tears off her face. “Good Bye, Lire”

The girl never dared to look back. The winds bring to carry no joy in its wake. The sun slowly disappeared as well as the figure of the one who betrayed the heart of another. The archer didn’t move an inch after hearing the last of the Knight’s words. “Elesis…” Her sight began to dim; her body began to fail her. She has been crying for almost a day already, getting no sleep, no food. “Why...?” Those were the last words she spoke of before fainting into the cold hard ground.
