Chapter II: The Separation of Love
The night was indeed young, the people are all merry. The lights blend with the people as it dances along the dark corners of the Kingdom. The moon shines beneath them; everyone wore smiles on their faces. Not everyone at the very least, since there are those who wish to live in the darkness, forever cursing themselves of the life they chose. With eyes that are ready to pierce through the souls of the innocent. Having the will, to bring havoc to the hearts of millions. Who are they?
Lire was in the care of her friend Amy, who just returned from a very long mission. Four years have passed ever since they last met. Lire had an ease in heart as she hugged Amy. Her warmth made her feel comfortable, as if she had longed for this. The pain in her heart started to fade away as she gazed upon the divine figure carrying her. “Amy...” She thought to herself. Her eyes regained its colors as the lights made it clear that she was on her way to a new life, a life without Elesis.
The girl smiled in hopes that her heart would recover for the third time. Tears flowed from her eyes once more. “Lire, you okay back there?” Amy smiled at her as they walked slowly through the many people, who were gazing on them. “Aye, I’m fine.” Both of them laughed.
But behind the dark corners of the Kingdom, scattered, are those evil hearts that desired nothing but malice. One of those was a lonesome Knight shrouding himself in the darkness of the night. His stare was focused on the two girls, whose smiles gave him more to anger about. Choosing to whether to commit another crime or not. He bears a coin on his hand, which was aimlessly flipped again and again. The coin landed on his hand revealing that it was heads. The man let out an evil smirk and began to laugh maniacally. “Lire…”
Meanwhile, Lire and Amy was nearing the inn which the Oracle once called home. She did live a rather normal life, though she was treated as a Diva. She was thankful enough that her comrades treated her normally. Amy’s thoughts were deep. It has been a long time since she set foot on Bermesiah again. Amy just continued on smiling whilst carrying Lire on her back. Her friend’s weight never bothered her since she was happy enough that it was that girl she was carrying. She kept on walking until they reached the inn. The girls looked heavenward at the worn down structure, a three-story building possibly constructed before the War of the Highlands. Amy turned to her friend. “Well, here we are Lire.”
But Lire made no response which made Amy worried. She gently withdrew Lire from her back and made her sit at the side of the inn. Amy went closer to Lire. “Lire..?” The girl heard a cute moaning sound coming from the archer. Amy sighed and smirked. “You lost your consciousness while during our trip.” The sleeping archer kept on smiling for some reason with tears trailing from her cheeks. Amy blushed as she found this very cute. “It might be best that I don’t wake her. Her mind is at peace right now.” Amy’s arms went under Lire’s soft body and carried her. The girl made her way to the door. “Alice, can you open the door? I’m quite in a fix here.” A few minutes had passed and no answer came. “Eh..? This is her inn, right? I remember it clearly.” Amy thought for awhile. “Hmmm… It’s been four years already, maybe Alice sold the place.” The girl sighed in disappointment and turned around, ready to leave.
But before moving another step, the locks of the door behind her began to turn. Amy turned around, gazing her eyes on the old wooden door. “Alice..?” She asked. The sound of unlocking ceased and the door started to open. A girl, that appears to be in her young adult years with long gold hair, greeted Amy. “Sorry, Amy… I fell asleep. I was really excited that you were coming back.” The girl smiled then noticed Lire on Amy’s arms. “Wait, isn’t that Lire, your carrying?”
Amy smiled back while her face was turning red. “Can you please help me…? She’s really getting heavy.” Alice hurriedly went to aid Amy and helped her carry Lire. “She seems rather pale, what happened to her?” Amy turned her sights to the innkeeper. “That is something that I plan to find out. But, I’m sure that it was something very painful.” Amy’s eyes gave out a worried look as she slowly carried Lire upstairs. “Lire…” Alice assisted Amy as they went to the Oracle’s room.
Tears still flowed down the girl’s cheeks as she went about walking to Kerrie Harbor. The surrounding was dark. Only the moon gave light to her way. Elesis continued on walking, her guilt still chewing on her consciousness on what she has just done to Lire. The girl eyes were red with her fist clenched as if it was ready to kill someone. The night breeze gave her goose bumps. Her long hair swayed against the wind. “Lire…” Words came out of her mouth as she forced herself to look back. “What am I doing?” But her body insisted her to walk onwards.
“Lire…” She held her bag tighter, she wanted to go back. But before she could make another move a voice broke the silence. “Elesis…” A voice of a man echoed throughout the field. Elesis looked straight and blushed. “Ronan…” The figure was magnificent that it made Elesis draws more tears, a man with silky blue hair wearing a coat that matches Elesis’. “It didn’t go well, I assume.” Ronan asked. “Go well? It went horribly wrong, I know she can’t forgive me anymore...” Ronan approached Elesis and hugged her tightly. “I know Lire will forgive you, that girl was the wisest among us.” The man kissed Elesis’ forehead and smiled at her. “Now, let us go before the others find out that we have gone missing.” Elesis kept her silence and nodded. Ronan held her hand. “The ship will be departing soon. We best hurry.” But of them went there way. Elesis heart was still aching from her decision to leave Lire for Ronan. The girl stared at her new lover and did her best to smile.
The sound of a ship blowing it horns gave out the sign that it was almost ready to depart. The newfound couple made a run for it. Their steps trailing across the stone path that leads to the harbor. Shadows beaming across the woods until they reached the place that was once called Kerrie Beach. It was a beautiful sight to behold. They saw the ship and boarded it. Moments later, the ship finally set sail. Elesis made her final look at Bermesiah and gave her final farewell to the girl she loved. “Goodbye, Lire…” Ronan went behind her and gave her a hug. “I’m sure she’ll be alright. The gods favor her as Amy said.” Elesis gazed at Ronan as he approached her for a kiss. The boat disappeared into the darkness of the night.
Lire was finally sleeping soundly on Amy’s old bed. The Oracle gave herself a seat and watched over her. “Anything else you need, Amy?” Alice asked her tenant. “Ah, I almost forgot!” Amy panicked a bit. “What’s wrong?” Amy gave Alice a serious look. “I have to go meet the others, they have been expecting me.” Alice smiled at her. “Then I shall stay with Lire until your return.” Amy got up and opened her dusty closet. “I’ll be back in a short while. Sorry to trouble you.” The girl took her coat and ran outside as she wore her coat.
Amy was rushing outside heading for Jin’s house for the celebration of her return. “Oh, I hope… They aren’t angry at me for making them wait this long.” A man walked out from the shadows as Amy disappeared into the crowd. This man looked up into the window of the inn which had a light coming from it. “I finally found you…” The man smirked devilishly as he smoked his cigarette.
Alice sat on a chair and started to watch Lire. The girl was intrigued. “Lire, sure is very beautiful. But, I’m curious… what happened to you?”
A loud knock on the inn’s door was heard by Alice moments later. “Huh?” She immediately stood up and went downstairs. “Coming…” She gave out a response. She arrived at the front door. “Who is it?” No one answered. “Ehh…” She opened the door slowly and it saw no one outside. Alice gave out a pissed off look. “Damn kids and their pranks.” Alice closed the doors and locked it shut. She made her way back to Amy’s room. “Kids this da…” The girl was silenced when she returned to the room. The bed was empty and the windows where open. The wind blew inside the room. “Lire…?” The woman panicked at once. She saw footprints on the floor revealing that Lire was kidnapped. The girl was missing! “I have to inform Amy of this…” Alice ran downstairs and unlocked her door. “This is not good…” Once the doors were unlocked she stormed outside and started her search for Amy… Will she find her in time?
“Amy!!!!!!!!” Alice could only shout in hopes of finding Amy.
